“I’d like to see and imagine what hand-held consoles feel and look like in 2020s.”

Arcade Brick is a tribute to retro devices like iPod and Nintendo GameBoy, those I once owned when I grew up. It is a hand-held gaming console concept which is a part of my senior capstone project.
I believe Arcade Brick is about finding the perfect balance between the simplicity of the design, where you applaud sophisticated form factor, and the intricacy of stories, where all of the joys of playing and exploring are what is truly being celebrated.

Trackpads as joysticks
The body houses two clickable trackpads, function as joysticks, to help you navigate in a game. With a larger touch area, it adapts more types of games as it provides more flexible input mechanisms. This means you can play Cup Pong or Darts using swiping gestures, or Golf using the trackpad as a slider that senses your force and motion.
Clickable Trackpads
With clickable haptic trackpads, Arcade Brick enables you to trigger secondary actions. It is a precise and easy way to trigger actions like spelling cast and magic, dashing, aiming, or quick shooting.
Play Buttons
Play buttons are intuitive to use. Just like a traditional gaming controller, play buttons are consisted of four circular buttons. In addition, an inventory button is added that is easy to reach, so players can quickly access to maps or inventories.
I believe Arcade Brick is about finding the perfect balance between the simplicity of the design, where you applaud sophisticated form factor, and the intricacy of stories, where all of the joys of playing and exploring are what is truly being celebrated.
