Privacy Policy for Mockordings

Mockordings is created and operated by Yichen Xie (“Mockordings,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). This policy explains how the Mockordings iOS app and its support and privacy pages handle information.

The short version

Mockordings has no account system, developer-operated backend, advertising, analytics, or tracking.

Photos, videos, audio contained in selected videos, edits, projects, and exports are processed on your device and are not uploaded to us.

The app uses Apple services when you access media stored in iCloud Photos or purchase Mockordings Pro. If you contact us for support, we receive the information you choose to include in your message.

Information handled by the app

Photos and videos

You can select screenshots, photos, screen recordings, and other videos to create mockups.

Depending on the feature you use and the permission you grant, Mockordings may:

  • Access items you select through Apple’s photo picker
  • Display recent media from the full or limited portion of your library that you permit
  • Process selected media, including audio already contained in a selected video
  • Save a finished image or video to Photos when you request it

This processing occurs on your device. Mockordings does not upload your media to us.

If an item is stored in iCloud Photos, iOS may download it from Apple before Mockordings can use it.

Mockordings does not access your camera, microphone, contacts, or location.

Saved mockordings

After an export finishes, Mockordings saves an editable archive in the app’s local storage so you can reopen it.

An archive may contain:

  • The rendered image or video
  • A preview thumbnail
  • Copies of selected source and background media
  • Editor settings such as device style, canvas layout, colors, and effects
  • Information such as creation date, media type, selected device name, and video duration

These files remain in the app’s local storage until you delete the mockording or delete the app.

Depending on your device and backup settings, Apple may include app data in an iCloud or device backup. Mockordings does not operate or control those backup services.

Preferences and usage limits

Mockordings stores a small amount of information locally, including:

  • Your appearance preference
  • A locally cached indication of whether Pro access is active
  • The date and number of free video exports used

This information is used only to provide app functionality and enforce the daily free-export allowance. It is not sent to us.

Purchases and subscriptions

Mockordings Pro purchases are processed by Apple through StoreKit.

The app receives the product and entitlement information needed to display available plans, unlock Pro features, restore purchases, and respond to renewals or revocations.

Apple handles your Apple Account and payment information. We do not receive your payment-card number or Apple Account password. Apple processes purchase information under Apple’s own privacy policy.

Support messages

If you contact us by email, we receive the information you choose to provide. This may include:

  • Your email address
  • The contents of your message
  • Your Mockordings version and build number
  • Your iOS version
  • Your device model, if you include it
  • Screenshots, media, or other attachments you voluntarily send

We use this information only to respond to your request, troubleshoot the reported issue, maintain reasonable support records, protect the app from abuse, and meet legal obligations.

Please do not send private source media unless it is necessary and you choose to share it.

Information we do not collect through the app

Mockordings does not use developer-operated servers to collect app activity.

The app does not include third-party analytics, advertising, attribution, tracking, or crash-reporting SDKs. We do not create user profiles or use information for targeted advertising.

We do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.

Network connections and third parties

Mockordings or its related services may involve the following third parties:

  • Apple Photos and iCloud: iOS may retrieve media stored in iCloud and save exports to your photo library.
  • Apple App Store and StoreKit: Apple processes purchases, subscriptions, refunds, and entitlement verification.
  • Share destinations: When you use the iOS share sheet, the destination you select receives the exported file under its own terms and privacy policy.
  • Email providers: Your email provider and ours process support correspondence to deliver and store messages.
  • Website hosting and asset delivery: Providers may process standard request information, such as IP address, browser type, requested resource, and request time, to deliver and secure the support and privacy pages.

Apple and any share destination you independently select process information under their own terms and privacy policies.

We may disclose information contained in support correspondence if required by law or when reasonably necessary to protect someone’s safety, prevent fraud or abuse, or protect our legal rights.

Website preferences

The support and privacy pages may store a light or dark theme preference in your browser’s local storage. This preference remains in your browser and is not used for analytics or advertising.

These pages do not use advertising cookies or website analytics.

Retention and deletion

  • Local mockordings remain on your device until you delete them in Mockordings or delete the app.
  • Temporary files are kept only as needed for importing, rendering, sharing, or saving and may also be managed by iOS.
  • Copies saved to Photos remain in your photo library until you delete them there.
  • Local preferences and export counts remain until changed, reset, or removed with the app.
  • Purchase records are maintained by Apple according to Apple’s policies and legal obligations.
  • Support correspondence is retained only for as long as reasonably necessary to answer requests, troubleshoot issues, maintain support records, resolve disputes, protect the app, or comply with law.
  • Website request logs are retained according to the hosting provider’s settings for website delivery and security.

Deleting the app removes its local app container from the device. Copies may remain in Apple-managed backups according to your backup settings and Apple’s retention practices.

You may request deletion of support correspondence at any time. We will honor the request unless retention is reasonably necessary for legal, security, fraud-prevention, or dispute-resolution purposes.

Your choices and rights

You can:

  • Select specific media through Apple’s photo picker without granting broader library access
  • Limit or revoke Photos access through the iOS Settings app
  • Change the items available when using limited Photos access
  • Delete an archived mockording from the Mockordings home screen
  • Delete exported media from the Photos app
  • Remove local app data by deleting the app
  • Manage or cancel a subscription through your Apple Account subscription settings
  • Clear the website’s stored theme preference through your browser settings
  • Ask us to access, correct, or delete information you sent in a support message

Depending on where you live, you may also have rights to restrict or object to processing, obtain a copy of your information, or complain to a local data-protection authority.

Contact us to exercise a privacy request. We may need enough information to locate the relevant support correspondence before completing it.

Security

Mockordings stores its files within the iOS app container and relies on iOS security protections.

We use reasonable safeguards for support correspondence, but no storage or transmission method can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

Children’s privacy

Mockordings has no accounts, advertising, or tracking and is not designed to collect personal information from children.

If you believe a child sent us personal information in a support request, contact us and we will delete it unless retention is legally required.

International processing

If you contact us from outside the United States, support correspondence may be processed in the United States or another country where the relevant email or hosting providers operate.

Where required, appropriate legal safeguards will be used for that processing.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy if Mockordings’ features, service providers, or legal obligations change.

We will post the revised policy on this page and update the “Last updated” date. If a change materially affects how the app handles information, we will provide additional notice when required.
